Overview

Enterprise hardware value, handled under one program

Retired enterprise gear still holds market value — if someone will price it honestly, move it under chain of custody, and pay by ACH or wire instead of leaving residual dollars on the loading dock. Asset Decom runs direct cash buyback as part of white-glove ITAD for live data centers: inventory in, locked range within 24 hours, payout out.

We are Kansas City–based, lean on Midwest colo and enterprise lots, with nationwide crews and freight when you need the same buyback path across regions. Buyback pairs with data center decommissioning and hard drive destruction so media policy and residual value stay in one program.

Inventory

What we buy

Focus is enterprise and colo hardware — not consumer PCs or office e-waste:

Servers and blades

Rack and chassis generations still liquid in secondary markets.

Networking

Including Cisco, Arista, and F5 gear commonly pulled from colo cages.

CPUs

Processors pulled from refresh cycles.

Enterprise RAM

Server memory modules in volume.

NVMe and enterprise storage

Where policy allows resale after appropriate NIST SP 800-88 Rev. 2 sanitization.

Value depends on model, generation, quantity, condition, and media handling requirements. Send the list; we price from inventory, not from a vague “servers wanted” form.

Process

How the buyback process works

  1. 1

    Inventory in

Submit a spreadsheet, export, or photo-backed list, or book an on-site count as part of a decommission. Include manufacturer, model, quantity, and drive or media notes when known.

  2. 2

    Range within 24 hours

You receive a locked buyback range to the email you list before gear leaves the floor, or before you commit to ship. Finance can put it next to labor and logistics.

  3. 3

    ACH or wire out

After intake verification and any required sanitization or destruction, recovered value pays out as direct cash via ACH or wire. Value-offset decom and revenue share or consignment can fit when appropriate.

Same outcome philosophy as the homepage: paperwork and a wire, not a warehouse problem you have to manage yourself.

Offset

How buyback offsets decommissioning cost

Cost side Offset side
On-site un-racking and pack-out Cash buyback on servers, networking, CPUs, RAM, and NVMe
Freight and logistics Value offset against labor and freight line items
Media sanitization or Destroy Chassis and component value where media policy still allows resale of non-media assets

Coordinate early: drives that must follow a Destroy path on the hard drive destruction page are not sold as storage, but the rest of the BOM often still funds part of the data center decommissioning job. One vendor, one serial log, one payout trail.

Custody

Chain of custody and media policy

Buyback does not skip sanitization. Assets move under the same serialized chain of custody used for decommissioning. Media is handled to NIST SP 800-88 Rev. 2 — Clear, Purge, or Destroy — with Certificates of Destruction where destruction or sanitization is required; eligible hardware then proceeds to payout.

We state $1M E&O / cyber liability as a coverage signal for enterprise buyers. We answer RFPs with the credentials we actually hold.

Audience

Who this is for

  • ▸ Colo tenants liquidating a cage exit instead of zeroing residual value
  • ▸ Enterprise teams refreshing floors who want finance to see recovery, not only cost
  • ▸ Procurement running multi-site refreshes under one buyback and COD program

Nationwide freight and crews support distributed lots; day-to-day density is Midwest colo and enterprise work from the Kansas City base.

What to send for a fast quote

To hit the 24-hour range:

  • ▸ Site or metro, even if approximate
  • ▸ Manufacturer and model lists with quantities
  • ▸ Drive types and counts if known: HDD, SSD, NVMe, SAS, or SATA
  • ▸ Preferred outcome: cash, invoice offset, or discuss consignment
  • ▸ Access notes if on-site count or extraction is required

Incomplete lists still get a preliminary range; locked numbers firm up when serials and condition are verified.

Payout timing and verification

Ranges lock against the inventory you send; final payout follows intake verification — serials, condition, and media disposition. That sequence protects both sides: you are not asked to ship blind against a verbal number, and we are not wiring against a list that does not match the pallet.

When buyback is bundled with on-site extraction, verification happens in the same chain-of-custody workflow used for Certificates of Destruction: one log, one settlement path.

If finance needs the offset reflected on the decommission invoice rather than a separate wire, say so when you request the quote. Value-offset decom is often cleaner for a single PO than a purchase plus a separate recovery payment.
